Dreamgirls is a musical about a 1960s girl group called The Dreamettes. Beyoncé stars as Deena Jones, the lead singer of the group who is pushed to the background in favor of another member (played by Jennifer Hudson). This drama is based on the true story of the rise and fall of Chess Records, the label that launched the careers of artists like Muddy Waters, Etta James, and Howlin' Wolf. Beyoncé plays Etta James in the film, and earned critical acclaim for her performance.

Beyoncé's turn as Foxxy Cleopatra in Austin Powers in Goldmember was one of the highlights of the movie. She was funny, sexy, and completely stole the show whenever she was on screen. This performance showed that she could not only sing and dance, but also act with the best of them.
